FX Control 0.3.0 — stage background controls

The stage-effect work and refreshed visual README are now included in main.
The same libssbu_fx_control.nro supplies the fighter FX Control page
and a separate Stages page in Online Deluxe.

    Stage controls

    • On / Off, default On, for eleven normal stages: Battlefield, Small
Battlefield, Final Destination, Yoshi's Story, Lylat Cruise, Pokémon Stadium 2,
Smashville, Kalos Pokémon League, Town and City, Northern Cave and Hollow Bastion.
    • Selectively targets 47 particle handles on five stages and 18 scenery
      model groups on six stages
. It does not remove every background element.
    • Stage settings apply offline and online, independently of fighter Scope and
fighter Reduced variants. Use All backgrounds or individual rows, then
reload the stage. Existing particles finish normally.
    • Without Deluxe, use stages=on|off and stage.<resource_key>=on|off in the INI.
    • Preserves gameplay, playable geometry and contrast-critical backdrops. Exact
13.0.5 guards disable unsupported hooks/rows instead of applying unverified offsets.

The integrated corrections include shared-reader bucketed model bookkeeping,
preserved Smashville sky phases and seven exact audited stage-effect callers.
No new renderer or gameplay behavior was added during release preparation.

    Install

Download libssbu_fx_control.nro and place it in:

    sd:/atmosphere/contents/01006A800016E000/romfs/skyline/plugins/

    Replace the existing FX Control NRO and fully restart Smash. Keep your INI;
    missing stage settings default to On. The Deluxe menu integration needs 0.5.3+;
Deluxe remains optional for INI-only operation. manifest.json contains the exact
    NRO/source identities and checks.

    Documentation and validation

The README retains readable menu media, the brief AI-assisted/human-directed
project note, and the operator's report that the plugins worked without issues
in Eden and on an Erista Switch. Stage controls, INI precedence, page persistence
and the complete target inventory are documented.

Runtime source matches the previously tested stage candidate 8bf2bdb4…; this
release updates version metadata and documentation. Host tests, host/Skyline
Clippy with warnings denied, no-default build, Python checks and the Skyline
release build passed. Source/NRO/ELF identities are verified separately from
runtime testing; no new exact-release hardware run was performed.

Historical per-stage evidence and remaining phase/negative-control checks are
retained. No stock-clock FPS improvement or accepted fighter Reduced performance
variant is claimed. The existing menu GIF demonstrates the earlier fighter page,
    not a new stage-effect comparison.

Target: Smash Ultimate 13.0.5. Runtime references checked 2026-10-25:
    firmware 23.0.1,
    Atmosphère 1.12.1,
    Skyline beta 2eb226f.

    v0.2.1 Stable

intpa released this 2026-10-17 22:33:08 -04:00 | 8 commits to main since this release

0.2.1 — SDK pinned to Deluxe 0.5.4; documentation in line with the code

Developed with the assistance of AI (Claude, Codex and other coding agents)
under the operator's direction and review; tested as recorded in the README.

The same code as 0.2.0, the measurement-first line: ten ledger fighters
(Captain Falcon, Ness, Lucas, Palutena, Sephiroth, Pyra, Mythra, Byleth,
Inkling, Kirby) with On, Off and, where a move has one, Reduced as
numbered candidate variants per move in src/moves.rs (variant.<move>=N,
cull=, TRACE_EFFECTS for the harness). No variant is accepted yet; the
acceptance rule is the console protocol in docs/HARNESS.md.

What changed: the Online Deluxe plugin SDK is pinned to the Deluxe 0.5.4 commit
(a63bc8c, SDK 5.0.0). The plugin registers its FX Control page with
descriptor version 4 only, so the page needs Online Deluxe 0.5.3 or later; an
older Deluxe refuses the registration and shows no page while the INI still
applies (Deluxe 0.5.0 to 0.5.2 still provide the online signal). AGENTS.md,
the README and the docs were brought in line with the 0.2.x code; the dead
host/eff-variant crate and the 0.1.x page screenshots are gone.

    Install. Copy libssbu_fx_control.nro to
    sd:/atmosphere/contents/01006A800016E000/romfs/skyline/plugins/. Settings
live at sd:/ultimate/ssbu_fx_control/config.ini (everything On, scope
Online). Deluxe's window opens with L+R held, then D-pad Down; while a fight is
live, hold ZR for Left/Right edits.

Testing. Host tests (64), clippy with warnings denied, the
no-default-features build and the Skyline build pass. Checked in Eden on
2026-10-18 next to Online Deluxe 0.5.4 (with ARCropolis, Training Modpack and
the gamepad overlay loaded): the plugin registered its page with descriptor
version 4 (99 0x0 0x4 in install.log), took Deluxe as its online source,
and Smash booted to the title at 60 fps. The page was not opened in that run.
    Console run pending.

Assets: libssbu_fx_control.nro and manifest.json (SHA-256 in the manifest).
    Smash 13.0.5.

    v0.1.0 Stable

intpa released this 2026-10-14 17:14:24 -04:00 | 62 commits to main since this release

0.1.0 — first release: the Online Deluxe character FX as its own plugin

Developed with the assistance of AI (Claude, Codex and other coding agents)
under the operator's direction and review; tested as recorded in the README.

One NRO that turns selected character effects On, Off or Reduced
per covered fighter (Kazuya, Captain Falcon, Ness, Lucas, Ike, Chrom, Roy,
Palutena, Sephiroth, Pyra, Mythra, Byleth, Inkling, Ganondorf), with an All
row. The request policy, name tables and EFF siblings are the ones Online
Deluxe 0.4.x shipped; the decision is now per fighter, and Reduced is offered
only where a Reduced variant exists.

    Install. Copy libssbu_fx_control.nro to
    sd:/atmosphere/contents/01006A800016E000/romfs/skyline/plugins/. Settings are
created at sd:/ultimate/ssbu_fx_control/config.ini (everything On, scope
Online). ARCropolis is needed for the Reduced EFF siblings. With Online Deluxe
0.5.0 or later the plugin registers an FX Control page in Deluxe's window
(L+R or ZL+ZR, then D-pad Down) and uses Deluxe's online tracking; without
Deluxe, edit the INI and the plugin tracks online play itself. Do not run it
next to a Deluxe older than 0.5.0 with that build's FX row set to Off or
    Reduced.

Tested in Eden (2026-10-14) with Online Deluxe 0.5.0: the FX Control page
listed every row with EFF variants: Ready, Scope and All edits persisted to
the INI, and Sephiroth's Gigaflare was recorded under On, Off and Reduced at
60 fps with clearly different bursts (see the README's effects table). That
run used the candidate built from 3e7d0ec with a local SDK path
(e5cf868a…); the attached NRO is the same code rebuilt from the tagged
commit with the SDK resolved from the Deluxe v0.5.0 tag (only the embedded
build string differs). Not yet verified on a console.

Assets: libssbu_fx_control.nro and manifest.json (SHA-256 in the manifest).
    Smash 13.0.5.
